Improvisation in Action

A day of role play with the British Red Cross
28th March 2019
Last Saturday our first year students on the Two Year Rep course took part in a role playing day with the British Red Cross. They were selected for the job by our Uta Hagen teacher, Emma Girsh and her theatre company, Moving Stories.
They were asked to adopt characters affected by a natural disaster, to which the British Red Cross volunteers had to respond. Students had to create fully realised characters affected by a fictitious earthquake in the Canaries including tourists, local employees, students, staying in role for up to 30 minutes at a time.
The British Red Cross frequently carry out these exercises for their volunteers to refine and practise their skills in problem solving, communication, compassion and emotional support to victims of crisis.
Our students received some fantastic feedback from the Red Cross team and invaluable experience of applying their improvisational skills to a workplace setting.

Thank you to the British Red Cross and Moving Stories for such an invaluable experience!
