The Actor as MusicianEvening Masterclass
Monday 25 October
19:00 – 22:00
Actor Musicians are highly sought after these days, but being one is a bit more complicated than just being an actor who knows how to play an instrument.
In this workshop we’ll look at how to bring these two skills together; how to present them effectively in an audition scenario, how to approach a piece as an actor musician, and how to use your combination of skills to make yourself invaluable.
We’ll also look at musical techniques and skills that you can use to improve your acting, as well as acting techniques you can use to improve your playing.
To take full advantage of this course you will need to be able to play a musical instrument to a reasonable standard and bring it with you (unless it’s a drum kit).
Henry trained as an Actor Musician at Rose Bruford College, and has since appeared at Glasgow Citz, Bolton Octagon, Edinburgh Pleasance, Latitude and more, almost always playing an instrument and a character, often at the same time. Henry runs Blackheath Youth Theatre and Wise Child Theatre, and has taught at Royal Conservatoire Scotland, Identity School of Acting and Fourth Monkey.
