A Fourth Monkey student is someone who demonstrates a passion for learning and play with a fire in their belly. A successful applicant is not defined by what they can do, but what they have the potential to do.
We take considered risks on potential, but only on those who demonstrate the drive to succeed and a connection to the training we offer. They can often be actors or any combination of performer, such as dancer, musician or artist.
The right attitude and an aptitude to train overrides any perceived talent. We only make offers to those we feel can confidently begin a course of study with the expectation to develop during training, succeed in training goals and achieve a HE qualification.
Entry Requirements
All applications are considered on their own individual merit and potential.

We'll invite you to an audition and interview session to give you the opportunity to demonstrate this along with what inspires and motivates you. Following this, auditionees may be invited to a Recall Day - the final stage in the audition process - after which, offers will be made to successful auditionees.

We're able to make offers based on predicted grades and welcome applications from all subject backgrounds, whether you’ve specialised in STEM, the arts or humanities. If you are currently in education, offers made are assessed according to predicted grades provided by your school/college.

We encourage you to apply even if you are not predicted to meet the entry tariff listed.

We believe that access to the arts starts from the very first point of contact. We cover your audition fees, removing the pressure, so you can bring your best work to the audition room.

Designed to be dynamic, supportive and enjoyable, the audition is your chance to experience our unique drama school and demonstrate your skill, creativity and experience in our supportive and inclusive environment. We’ll assess the most suitable course for you and answer all your questions.
We’re proud to be the pioneers of free drama school auditions. There is no fee on any of our auditions for any of our courses. There never has been and there never will be.
We welcome applications from everyone and we audition every applicant.
Our goal is to make actor training accessible to everyone who has the passion, drive and talent.
You’re encouraged to inform us of any access requirements you may have on the application form as it helps us make any necessary, reasonable adjustments for the audition and throughout your training.
Early application is advised as offers to train with us are made continually throughout the audition process and places on all of our accredited courses are limited.
Offers to study with Fourth Monkey are made purely on merit, based on assessment at audition and interview. Previous formal academic qualifications are not essential but, as the course is within the NQF HE framework, it is hoped that you’ve achieved (or you’re currently studying) a Level 3 Qualification or Higher.

Our audition process begins with a self-tape audition and online interview in an effort to increase access and opportunity.

Self-tape Submission
Submit two tapes. Typically, we expect to see one contemporary (post 2000's) monologue and one classical (Shakespeare or Elizabethan) monologue (approx. 2 mins each). If you've got longer tapes or you're contemporary speech is from just before the noughties, don't worry. We're more interested in seeing you and the work that you're passionate about.

You can start the first tape by giving us a little bit of information about yourself, maybe where you’re from and what hobbies you have – you could even tell us about your pet! We want to see the real you.

Recalls (In-Person Audition Day)
Taking place over the course of a full day, our recall auditions are designed to explore your suitability and individual drive to train professionally.
​
You'll work in performance for camera and as an ensemble in a devising workshop. Our panel will also work through text and movement with you, in a variety of disciplines, throughout the day.
​
Our audition day is a rich experience - no matter the outcome - and gives you the chance to make sure Fourth Monkey is right for you.
​
You’ll experience workshops in Act | Make | Move | Collaborate, tour The Monkey House and get the chance to speak with staff, students and alumni about life and training at Fourth Monkey.
​
In preparation for the day, you’ll be asked to prepare some text pages to work in a scene to camera. (These short pages will be sent to you via email with the invitation to recall following a successful first-round audition.)
We will also ask you to retain your original monologues to work with at different points throughout the recall audition day.
​
To accept an offer to study, you must register and satisfactorily adhere to the Admissions Policy of our Awarding Partner, Falmouth University prior to the completion of enrolment for the course.
If you are lucky enough to receive an offer to study with us, as the course is within the NQF of HE, you must and will be over the age of 18 at the start of the course.
